Function
The mission:
The European Air Network team is working in the FedEx Brussels offices. This team is responsible for designing and continuously improving a network of flights, operating over 250 take-offs daily to deliver hundreds of thousands of packages. This includes the setup of integrated cross-functional processes, the enhancement of tools for capacity planning, reporting and network design and the coordination of business cases to optimize the air network.
The responsibilities of the Air Network Planning Engineer:
- Provide network analytics for (and lead) projects regarding current and future European or intercontinental air network
- Develop advanced capabilities and tools to continuously identify opportunities, optimize business performance and reduce cost to serve.
- Develop or enhance engineering tools, models, and new reports from various databases to analyze flows and air network performance
- Establish and maintain communication with country operations, airport & hub planning, engineering teams and field operations to assess or implement network changes and optimize the current and future air network and flows
- Proactively identify and analyze risks, opportunities, and constraints within area of expertise.
- Support management with the analysis, interpretation and application of complex information, contributing to the achievement of divisional and corporate goals.
- Collaborate cross functionally and cross regionally to enhance and drive value with key functional partners through the delivery of solutions which support key business decisions
- Work with Marketing and Finance peers to reach holistic business recommendations
- Act as a technical expert on complex and specialist network subject(s).
Profile
The right Air Network Planning Engineer will have the following profile:
- University degree, preferably in (Business) Engineering
- Excellent knowledge of English is a must (working language)
- Analytical thinker with a creative and pragmatic approach to problem solving
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively throughout various functional groups and hierarchical levels
- Proficient use of Office applications: Word, Excel & PowerPoint
- Data querying and automation through SQL, Phyton, VBA or other programming languages, or eagerness to learn.
- This position is based in Brussels. (FedEx does not hire candidates without a valid work permit for Belgium.)
