Function

This role is ideal for someone who recently joined the workforce and is interested in gaining hands-on experience in communications, public relations, marketing, or media. The communication officer supports internal and external communications management, the production of high-quality content whilst ensuring consistent visibility of BIO’s mission, values, and activities. Working closely with the Manager International Partnerships and Communications, the Communication Officer contributes to raising BIO’s profile among stakeholders including government bodies, private sector partners, media, and the public.

Tasks and responsibilities:

• Assist in drafting and editing content for social media, including the development of a strategy;
• Monitor media coverage and track mentions across various platforms and assist in developing a reactive media strategy;
• Help maintain and update the company’s website;
• Conduct research to support PR and communication campaigns;
• Assist in organising and promoting internal and external events;
• Support internal communications initiatives;
• Perform general administrative duties as needed;
• Assist/coordinate in the design of online tools to increase the visibility of BIO including charts, dashboards, etc.;
• Accompany/coordinate the organisation of events.

Profile

• Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or related field;
• 1-3 years’ experience in a communication department;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Familiarity with major social media platforms and basic content creation tools;
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail;
• Creative thinker with a willingness to learn and take the initiative;
• Excellent knowledge of English, French/Dutch;
• Ability to work collaboratively.
